Based on the manufacturer’s aluminum-grid framework, the GlassWalk structural glass flooring system uses two-ply laminated glass modules ranging from 12-by-12-inch up to 40-by-45-inch sizes. The top layer of the glass module is tempered for impact resistance and is bonded to the heat-strengthened bottom layer with a clear resin interlayer.
Ideal for increasing light transmission between levels, the glass flooring system is also slip resistant for safety. A patented ceramic-based frit is permanently heat-fused to the surface and is available in an array of patterns. A full etched obscurity frit can also be applied to the inside of the glass unit for translucency instead of transparency. Custom patterns can also be screened onto the interior surface of the glass, and radius corners and curves are possible. The pre-engineered structural floor system reduces lead times for product fabrication, the manufacturer says. The system can be used for stairs, landings, and walkways in addition to floors.
