Rosenthal Homes, Potomac, Md.

Gear that helps 21st-century custom builders get ahead.

1 MIN READ

Because most of Rosenthal Homes’ clients are busy working professionals, custom builder Josh Rosenthal and other staff spend a lot of time talking with them on weeknights and during the weekend. For those after-hours and field-to-office communications, they turn to their trusty BlackBerry 7520 handhelds. But the ubiquitous gadgets offer them much more than just basic communications capabilities. “Being a smaller company, we really use it to integrate with the Microsoft Office suite,” Rosenthal says. Staff can store an unlimited number of contacts and share them, view new updates made to software applications back at the office, send specs to a jobsite, and access not only the Internet and e-mail, but also calendars and information on hundreds of the company’s subs.

The Bluetooth-enabled BlackBerry’s ability to utilize the Telenav GPS navigation system and Nextel’s Group Walkie-Talkie and Direct Talk services are also particularly helpful, Rosenthal says. In the future, the company may also handle scheduling processes via BlackBerry. Sprint/Nextel. 800.777.4681. www.nextelonline.com. Circle 160.
