River’s Touch The uniquely textured Bali collection from Ann Sacks is earthy and modern at the same time. The mosaic tiles are made up of small stones rounded and worn to a smooth finish as if by nature. The collection comprises two series, Standing Pebble and Floor Interlock.

For vertical applications, the Standing Pebble series features rounded, flattened pebbles all in the same color and dry-stacked on their sides, creating a striking effect in a 4-by-12-inch tile. Standing Pebble is intended to remain ungrouted and comes in seven colors.

In the 12-inch-square Floor Interlock series the pebbles are placed flat side up in an interlocked configuration, then grouted to create a cobblestone effect. These tiles can be used on both vertical and horizontal surfaces. Four color patterns are available in this series. Ann Sacks. 800.278.8453. www.annsacks.com.

Glass Encounters A smooth, high-gloss finish caps a variety of underlying embedded textures in ThinkGlass custom glass countertops. Ripples, fractures, granulations, lineal patterns, and stone-like clefting and pocking can all be incorporated into the design of the piece. Artwork can also be embedded in the glass—the client’s own or a design by ThinkGlass artists.

The firm produces single seamless slabs up to 7 feet by 10 feet, but can also create any size necessary. Countertops are generally 1½ inches thick, but greater thicknesses also are possible. Custom countertops can be finished with a polished or textured edge.

Because the countertops come only in crystal and aqua colors, the underlying surface must be finished, as it will show through the glass and its embedded texture. Typical substrates are polished or textured metals, finished or painted wood, and laminate. ThinkGlass Inc. 450.420.1110. www.thinkglass.com.
