Heightened Awareness

Steven Shortridge had plenty of light and views to work with in this Pacific Palisades condo remodel. “It’s a 1950s building,” says the Los Angeles architect, “with banded windows and views to the ocean.” In the master bath, though, that might have been too much of a good thing. “You’ll see some hills and some ocean from that space,” Shortridge says. Noting that those hills are inhabited, however, he adds, “We used the electrified glass that frosts.” With the privacy issue covered, as it were, and the view secured, he proceeded to design a bath that offers both spa-like solitude and a panorama of the cosmopolitan beachfront scene.
