Wood Wrap
Contact Industries has the molding market covered—literally. The company makes veneer-wrapped molding and trim using hardwood that is just 15/1,000 inch thick. The thin layer of real wood veneer can be wrapped over a variety of substrates including MDF, aluminum, vinyl, and fiberglass, which allows the company to offer pieces that are up to l8 feet long and 10 inches wide. The wraps are available in most common wood species.

“We start with a profile of the component and/or trim the customer is looking at, and we’ll engineer it to make it more wrap friendly,” says Peter Himes, sales manager at Contact Industries. “Then we mold the substrate to the pattern or to the customer’s specifications.” The veneer is then adhered to the substrate.

The company has also used its profile-wrapping process for more unusual applications, such as aluminum vertical blinds. There is a minimum footage requirement for orders, usually around 5,000 lineal feet, Himes says, and the process takes about four weeks. Contact Industries. 800.345.2232. www.contactind.com
