Swytch is a blockchain-based platform that tracks and verifies the impact of sustainability efforts and actions on the worldwide level of CO2 emissions. A blockchain is a digital ledger in which transactions made in a cryptocurrency, including bitcoin, are recorded chronologically and publicly. The blockchain is the mechanism used to attach a value to a cryptocurrency.

The platform, which is currently functioning as a pilot program, uses an open-source, or publicly shared, Oracle software system that acts as digital trading platform similar to a currency exchange. Swytch will award tokens to people, companies, and other organizations that make a meaningful and measurable difference in reducing greenhouse gas emissions. Any system, act or device that can be measured and verified to displace carbon would be eligible to earn Swytch tokens. For example, a builder opting to change out a standard tank style water heater for an on demand system could be eligible for a token. Adoption of the Swytch system would enable consumers to convert the data coming off smart meters, internet of things devices, batteries, and electric vehicle chargers into Swytch tokens that could then be exchanged for goods and services.
