Green Homes at Greenbuild: The USGBC’s 2008 Greenbuild International Conference and Expo in Boston, Nov. 19-21, will hold its first-ever Green Homebuilder’s Day Thursday, Nov. 20. The day begins with a continental breakfast and then goes into focused educational break-out sessions. Topics include: Affordable Green, Elegant and Efficient Solutions for our Aging Building Stock, Extreme Green, Marketing Green, and Green Products and Technologies, among others. A mid-afternoon general session features a panel of industry experts, including Kevin O’Connor of This Old House, Tedd Benson of Bensonwood Woodworking Company, and Steve Kieran of the architectural firm Kieran Timberlake Associates. USGBC’s 2009 Plans: The USGBC has announced its plan for 2009 to spread the green home message. Renewable Energy Tax Credits Extended: The recently passed financial market bailout package included language that renews $18 billion in renewable energy tax credits that would have expired by the end of 2008. The tax credits—for renewable energy investments including residential photovoltaic, geothermal, and wind applications—apply to both homeowners and home builders. Read more.
