The husband-and-wife team of Edward and Anne Nocera, the ceramists at Nocera Art Tile, work with clients to develop custom tile paintings for murals or panels, taking projects from concept to finished painting. They also can reproduce well-known works of art in tile panels.
For each tile the couple must plan for shrinkage, control the drying process, properly assess the application of the glazes, and fire the kiln accordingly. Each tile is formed by hand.
“Paintings on clay impose exacting restrictions,” says Anne Nocera. The pair strive to achieve a balance between discipline and free expression. The Noceras have developed their own clay and glaze formulas that allow their pieces to be safely installed indoors and out.
