Hanley Wood’s BUILDER magazine announced today the launch of the online virtual tour of the reNEWable Living Home. The joint collaboration and vision of Meritage Homes (NYSE:MTH) and BUILDER, the reNEWable Living Home is a pioneering venture in innovative design, engineering, materials science and construction practices that coalesce around transforming homeownership with homes that renew, change and adapt as families’ stories evolve.

The home has been designed and constructed to showcase future practices in smarter energy use, healthier homes, and houses that can be mindfully adapted to both residents and the environment. The online virtual tour for the reNEWable Living Home highlights emerging trends in home design, building technology, products and materials to homeowners, builders, remodelers, and architects.

“The reNEWable Living Home is designed and built to exceptional design, performance, health and sustainability standards,” said Paul Tourbaf, President of Hanley Wood’s Residential Construction Group. “Through the virtual tour, visitors can learn more about the innovative and cutting edge features of the home that will characterize and define homes of the future.”

The reNEWable Living Home will showcase the preferences and buying habits of the multigenerational household, highlighting innovative floorplans and solutions that help this expanding demographic live more comfortably. The home features a 5,000 plus square foot open floorplan designed by BSB Design to adapt to how different buyers will need to live in the space. The home’s initial configuration has seven bedrooms and five bathrooms, with flex spaces that can be manipulated to the individual buyer’s unique needs. The home is designed to offer multiple evolution over time options: revenue suite, in-laws suite and/or adult children suite.

Suppliers worked with Meritage Homes to contribute to a high performing, innovative design that resulted in a 16 HERS Rating, in the lowest 1% of all HERS rated homes in the country, along with ENERGY STAR certification, the EPA’s Indoor airPLUS certification, and satisfaction of the US Department of Energy Zero Ready Home Program requirements. Meritage hopes the landmark performance of this home will redefine future, scalable home design.
