BuildingGreen’s new greenbuildingadvisor.com is a one-stop database of green-building expertise. Nearly 1,000 construction drawings and other resources, including notes on building codes, installation videos, and products, detail ways to achieve sustainability for various home types and climates.

It comes at a good time: When the new-home construction market begins to recover in the next two to three years, sustainable, green construction could outpace conventional methods, with the value of green building construction starts reaching between $96 billion and $140 billion, according to McGraw-Hill Construction’s “2009 Green Outlook: Trends Driving Change” report.

The Web site aggregates information from several sources, including BuildingGreen.com’s GreenSpec online product directory and contributions from their 15-member advisory board of working builders, remodelers, architects, and engineers. Especially useful is how the site acts as a clearinghouse for information and advice on building codes as they relate to green building.

A substantial portion of GreenBuildingAdvisor.com, including product discussions, case studies, news, blogs, and a community forum, is free. Full access to the site requires membership as a GBA Pro on either a monthly ($15 per month) or annual ($149.99 per year) basis.
