Last Friday, the American Institute of Architects (AIA), announced that Desai Chia Architecture’s Photographer’s Loft was selected as one of five winners for the Institute Honor Awards in Interior Architecture. Projects must have been completed after Jan 1, 2001, to be eligible for the awards program, which “celebrates the most innovative and spectacular interior spaces,” according to the Institute. The New York loft is no stranger to awards—it was also selected as the recipient of a 2016 Residential Architect Design Award. This year, it was the only residential project to be recognized in the Institute Honor Awards, which are also awarded in architecture and regional and urban design.

This year’s jury included Brian Caldwell, AIA, of Thinktank Design Group in Bozeman, Mont.; Joshua Aidlin, AIA, of Aidlin Darling Design in San Francisco; Kiyomi Kurooka, AIA, of DWL Architects + Planners in Phoenix; John Paquin, AIA, of Statesville; and William T. Ruhl, AIA, of Ruhl Walker Architects in Boston.
