Excessive Litigation Threatens New Mexico Builders

Here’s a report from KOB 4 in Albuquerque, New Mexico on an unusual number of lawsuits coming out of a California law firm that is threatening the local home building market.

A flurry of lawsuits filed in and around Albuquerque are being blamed for an increase in home building costs causing a number of subcontractors to go out of business or experience difficulty staying in business.

“If this carries on, it will have devastating impacts on construction here in New Mexico,” said John Garcia, Executive Vice President of the Home Builders Association of Central New Mexico.

Garcia has been sounding the alarm that an excessive number of lawsuits are slowly dismantling the home construction industry.
