Who really needs a formal dining room? Many of today’s house plans are ditching the stuffy, seldom-used room near the front and instead enlarging the area traditionally given over to the breakfast nook. When this expanded space is combined with the ubiquitous snack bar, the result is open, relaxed, and right in line with how people live today.

Bright and Open

This sleek modern home was inspired by the luxury beach homes of the Caribbean coast and features a fabulous courtyard that can hold a pool and spa. A folding glass-door system opens up the living spaces to the courtyard for outstanding indoor/outdoor connections. The kitchen shows off a spacious peninsula (holding a six-burner range) that lets buyers interact with friends and family at the bar while preparing food. They can head upstairs to relax in the master suite’s luxurious tub or lounge outside on the deck. Three more bedrooms and a spacious laundry room complete the level. For even more outdoor space, check out the sundeck above the garage. See more images, information, and the floor plan.
