In forests and fields, rain soaks into the earth. When you install permeable paving, your home sites can let water percolate into the sub-soil in the same way—helping to prevent water pollution.

1. Prepare the Base Excavate deep enough to store a heavy rainfall. Deeper storage is needed in slow-draining soil such as clay. Filter fabric keeps stone separate from sub-soil. 2. Place the Stone The sub-base is placed and compacted in layers: coarse crushed stone at the bottom, smaller gravel in the middle, and a pea gravel “bedding course” at the top. 3. Set the Pavers Screed the bedding course flat, then place the pavers. Sweep gravel into the rain-draining joints between pavers, and compact.
