Many industry businesses have been helping in the aftermath of the 2005 hurricane season:
Ball Homes will donate the proceeds from the January auction of two newly built Kentucky homes to the Bush-Clinton Katrina Fund. David Weekley Homes has helped raise over $300,000 for Hurricane Katrina victims and is building three homes for Wellsprings, a ministry to women that is helping house 48 women displaced by the hurricanes. John Wieland Homes and Neighborhoods, along with its affiliated companies, company members, and trade partners, has created High Five for New Orleans, an effort to raise $1 million for Gulf Coast rebuilding efforts that includes donating the profits from five newly built homes. Owensboro, Ky.–based Martin Custom Building and its trade partners are donating the profits from a newly built home to hurricane relief. In September, the Peachtree Cos. and Wausau, Wis.–area residents donated food, personal items, school and cleaning supplies to Hurricane Katrina victims. Sister companies Simonton Windows, Hy-Lite Products, Fypon, and Dixie-Pacific have teamed up with home improvement expert Danny Lipford to donate more than $1.4 million worth of building products to support rebuilding efforts in the Gulfport, Miss., area. BUILDER would like to know about your company’s relief efforts. Please e-mail press releases to dleopold@hanleywood.com.
