KB Home (NYSE: KBH) on Friday announced the grand opening of Carter Landing, a new single-family home community of affordably priced one- and two-story floor plans in the Jacksonville Westside area, which is convenient to Interstate 295 and minutes to downtown Jacksonville.

“Carter Landing is in a desirable location that provides a quick commute to downtown Jacksonville and area employment centers,” said Todd Holder, president of KB Home’s Jacksonville division. “As with our other KB Home communities, Carter Landing offers home buyers the opportunity to purchase a new, personalized KB home at a price that fits their budget.”

The Carter Landing community is conveniently located near shopping, dining and entertainment along the St. Johns River in Riverside. The community offers six floor plans, with up to five bedrooms and three-and-a-half baths, and ranging in size from approximately 1,300 to 2,300 square feet. The new homes feature open kitchens overlooking great rooms, lofts and expansive master suites with walk-in closets. Pricing begins in the $190,000s, with no CDD fees.

Separately, KB said Friday that it is the first home builder to join the Well Living Lab Alliance, a collaboration of Delos and Mayo Clinic, which is supported by a global consortium and dedicated to the advancement of knowledge to transform indoor environments, and ultimately improve human health and well-being.

The Well Living Lab draws upon the expertise of building, health and behavioral sciences to conduct human subject studies in simulated and real-world settings. The lab comprises 7,500 square feet of research space adjacent to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota, and is the first research center devoted exclusively to this field of study.

“We are excited to have our first home builder join the Well Living Lab Alliance. We welcome the leadership and expertise that KB Home will bring to advancing this movement to improve the places where people live, work and play,” says Brent Bauer, M.D., Mayo Clinic, medical director of the Well Living Lab. “Alliance members bring unique perspectives and we have a powerful community coming together.”

“In joining the Well Living Lab Alliance, KB Home will support the advancement of science to generate evidence-based findings that can be used to benefit our customers in the future,” said Jeff Mezger, KB Home’s chairman, president and CEO. “KB Home is actively engaged in developing cutting-edge solutions that can elevate the health and comfort of our home buyers, and our participation in the Well Living Lab Alliance underscores that commitment.”
