Texas is the newest state to become a “majority-minority” state. In August, the U.S. Census Bureau announced that Texas has a minority population of 11.3 million, or 50.2 percent of its total population. Maryland, Mississippi, Georgia, New York, and Arizona all have minority populations of about 40 percent.
