In terms of price appreciation, 14 of the hottest 25 vacation-home markets are in California, according to The Wall Street Journal. Topping the list was Ocean-side, where the median price of a vacation home was $509,000, with a 161.6 percent price change over five years. It was far from the priciest zip code for vacation homes, however. That title went to Malibu, with a median price of $1.7 million (a 126.1 percent price change over five years). The remaining hot markets included six locations in New Jersey, three in Florida, and one each in Rhode Island (Newport) and New York (Sayville).
