Who buys a new house on the Internet? According to American Homes Guides’ 2003 online home buyer profile, the profile of a Net home buyer is a 26- to 35-year-old woman. The first-ever profile, based on 5,486 responses, found that the average cyber home shopper makes between $50,000 and $100,000 a year and plans to buy a single-family home in the $100,000 to $250,000 price range in the South in about three months. She spent between one to three hours a week researching, and didn’t work with a real estate agent. After the Internet, the tool they reported using most frequently was “driving around.” The 2004 profile will be created from survey results in July and August by visitors to www.AmericanHomeGuides.com, a Web site designed to market homes for its builder members.
