Making Choice the Main Amenity in Senior Housing

1 MIN READ

Equipped with an historic mansion on a 50-acre property adorned by formal gardens in Wenham, Mass., developers James Mullen and Chris Wise have a plan to offer a housing alternative for senior citizens looking for both convenience and the freedom to choose what services they need and who they receive them from. At Penguin Hall, as the development will be known, services will more closely resemble those of a hotel than an assisted living facility—including a 24-hour concierge desk and help with setting up in-home healthcare, should residents desire it; the on-site dinning facility will function like a restaurant. Most important, residents will be afforded the choice to use their own healthcare professionals, home cleaning services, etc., rather than being forced to use on-site services.
