Ryland Announces 11% Increase in November Unit Sales

CALABASAS, Calif. (Hanley-Wood News Service) – The Ryland Group, Inc. (NYSE: RYL) today released preliminary unit net new orders for the month of November 2001 and the eleven months ended November 30, 2001. New orders for the month of November 2001 were 934, a 10.7 percent increase over the 844 orders reported for the month of November 2000.

New orders for the eleven months ended November 30, 2001, were 12,291, an 11.8 percent increase over the same period in 2000.

Additionally, the Company’s backlog increased to 5,482 outstanding contracts, representing an increase of 12.2 percent over the prior year.
