North America Sekisui House has purchased a 4,000-acre portion of the Nexton community in Summerville, South Carolina from WestRock Land and Development.

In late July, PCBC, the Pacific Coast home building regional trade show, announced the winners of the annual Gold Nugget Awards through a new virtual format, revealing successful building projects and new industry trends.

The organization wants to extend the conversation by launching Gold Nugget Awards Design Trends, a two-part conversation with the award winners and other design professionals. The #PCBCvirtual sessions will take place Oct. 7 and 14 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. (PDT) and feature different topics with various speakers and moderators.

On Oct. 7, the session “Community Design: Then, Now, and What’s Next” will cover initial community design and planning, product segmentation, amenity strategies, and customer experience design. Teri Slavik-Tsuyuki, principal at Tst Ink, will moderate the session, and attendees will hear from representatives from award-winning communities, such as Cassie Cataline, marketing director at Newland Communities’ Nexton, the 2020 Gold Nugget grand winner for the Best Community Land Plan in Summerville, South Carolina.

For the second webinar on Oct. 14, titled “Incredible Spaces: Why the Kitchen, Bathroom, Outdoor Living, and Home Office Mean So Much,” Meyers Research principal Mollie Carmichael will moderate the session that features well-known interior designer Bobby Berk of Bobby Berk Interiors. Attendees will learn why amenity spaces are important and livable, and which ones mean the most now.
