Duplex Reinterpreted

Princeton, N.J.

1 MIN READ

When the original duplex that sat on this lot was condemned, the architects used the opportunity to reinterpret the housing type. Sited to create a side-entrance courtyard and a backyard social space, the three-level twin houses feature wide-open living spaces, each with a central stair. Staggered elevations and alternate cladding arrangements give each home its own identity on the outside. Materials selected for both sustainability and low maintenance include insulated polycarbonate walls and zinc siding. The units were designed to receive sod roofing at a future date.
