Small town infill makes density delightful.

1 MIN READ

It takes a brave developer to introduce higher density housing in the context of an historic small town center. Hedgewood Homes pulled it off with high marks in Woodstock, a century-old railway stop not far from Atlanta. Part preservation and part new construction, the project has introduced mixed-use structures where there were none, and knitted into the community fabric new, green-built homes that respect architectural tradition without being overly derivative. When completed, Woodstock Downtown’s 64 acres will hold 976 new homes and 110,000 square feet of commercial and retail. The project earned a Charter Award from the Congress for New Urbanism in March 2008.
