As part of my ongoing series of video interviews with women in home building who hold leadership positions, and I’m excited to share my interview with Kim Diamond, Principal and Co-Founder of 7×7 Development. Kim is a powerhouse in the San Francisco home building industry and the story of her path to where she is today will is quite captivating.
Kim has more than 15 years of experience in the multifamily development business, specializing in both condominium and rental development projects. Kim received her Master of Arts in Urban Planning at the University of California at Los Angeles and a bachelor’s degree from Tufts University, with a concentration in urban design and planning. Kim served as Northern California representative on Pulte’s national ‘Green Team’ to spearhead green building efforts and initiatives for the company. She currently sits on the Board of the Urban Land Institute’s San Francisco District Council, serving as Chair of Mission Advancement and past Chair of the Program’s Committee.
In our interview we talk about how she got to where she is today, how she grew up on job sites, why always saying “yes” to an opportunity has been key to her success, and why getting in at the ground level and (again) always saying yes to any task, no matter how simple, will help you learn about the business.
Our interview takes place at a model home at her latest project, 388 Fulton, a new collection of studio, one-bedroom and two-bedroom residences coming to San Francisco’s beloved and eclectic Hayes Valley.
