5 New Tiles for Floors and Walls

In honor of National Tile Day, BUILDER rounded up a few new introductions in the category.

Tile has become a durable alternative to traditional wall and floor coverings over the past few years. Tile is sustainable, durable, resistant to weathering, low maintenance, and energy-efficient, making it a great choice for flooring surfaces or decorative walls for homeowners that want low-maintenance materials. And now, manufacturers are finding ways to get tile to look like other materials, such as wood and marble, with sophisticated printing technology.

Here are a few new tile products that have recently launched on the market or been announced by manufacturers.

Interface
Interface recently announced that it would be launching a new line of luxury vinyl tiles to pair with its existing modular carpet tiles. The collection of floor tiles, called Level Set, features a range of 25cm x 1m planks and 50cm x 50cm squares that mirror classic natural and textured wood grains and stones. The line will be available in select markets in early 2017.

Daltile
Daltile’s Marbe Attache line of porcelain tiles resemble the look of natural marble. Porcelain tiles are more durable and require less maintenance than marble. The line offers six colors, three finishes in matte, satin and polished, and several large format sizes.

Emser Tile
The company’s new line of glazed porcelain tiles, called Angeles, mimics the look of wood, an aesthetic that has been trending in home flooring design for a while. The company uses HD graphic technology to print the unique variances of wood onto the tiles. The tile is VOC-free, comes in 9” x 47” tile cuts, and is available in five colors.

Walker Zanger
Walker Zanger’s Sequoia line of porcelain tiles combines the durability of a porcelain material with the aesthetic of real marble for a tough flooring surface or decorative vertical surface. The line seeks to imitate natural Sequoia stone but is available in four colors —Almond, Black, Grey and Puro.

Architectural Systems, Inc.
ASI has introduced a fun new offering in the tile category with Infused Glass Mosaics. The small, colorful and reflective tiles can be applied as a backsplash or used for an extra decorative element in a home. The pieces are offered in a wide array of colors as well as monochromatic options in both matte and gloss finishes, or can be customized to create unique patterns.
