Capital investment in lean manufacturing will add 200 jobs to Rocky Mount facility

1 MIN READ

Ply Gem Windows, Roanoke, Va., Tuesday announced plans to invest in its Rocky Mount, Va., facility by the end of 2014 as part of a company-wide push toward lean manufacturing. The move is expected to upgrade manufacturing processes and add 200 jobs in unit assembly, coordination, value stream leadership, process ownership and engineering, information technology, and other technical areas.

“The investment in the Rocky Mount facility will ensure the local community will benefit from our growth initiatives,” said Ply Gem Windows president Lynn Morstad Tuesday at a local news conference. “Through these initiatives, we are looking to bring our job count at the Rocky Mount facility to 1,100 associates by the end of 2014.”

The investment includes grants from the Virginia Tobacco Indemnification and Community Revitalization Commission, Franklin County, and the town of Rocky Mount; the Virginia Jobs Investment Program through the Virginia Department of Business Assistance is also contributing to Ply Gem’s initiative.
