At the end of the month, the Home Builders Association of Northern Kentucky (HBA) will become the Building Industry Association of Northern Kentucky (BIA). The name change is in response to the changing membership of the 62-year-old organization based in Edgewood, Ky., including a growing number of remodelers and commercial firms.

“Only 14 percent of our association’s membership are actual builders, remodelers or developers; considered builder members of our organization,” says Brian Miller, executive vice president. “The largest portion of our membership are suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers, considered associate members.”

There are 800 associations within the NAHB federation and of the 100 largest builders associations in the country 53 are named Home Builders Association. 27 are named Builders Association and 16 are named Building Industry Association.
