Weekley ‘Partners of Choice’ Revealed

Home builder recognizes suppliers for excellence.

David Weekley Homes, Houston, on Monday released the winners of its 13th Partners of Choice Award, which recognizes those suppliers that have operated at world-class levels through the year and have been recognized by the supplier evaluation platform created by the home builder.

The following companies were recognized as winners of the “A,A” Award, achieving excellence in both quality and service:

  • Blind Ambitions
  • Boise Cascade
  • BSH Home Appliance Corporation
  • Construction Solutions
  • Dow Chemical
  • DuPont Protection Solutions
  • J.P. Hart Lumber Company
  • Hunter Douglas
  • Johns Manville
  • LP Building Products
  • Moen Incorporated
  • Seybro Door
  • Simpson Strong-Tie
  • Trane
  • Uponor

The following companies received an “A” Award, for achieving excellence in either quality or service:

  • Acme Brick (Quality)
  • Ally Building Solutions (Service)
  • American Bath Group (Service)
  • GAF (Quality)
  • GlassCraft Door Company (Service)
  • James Hardie (Quality)
  • Mid Continent Cabinetry (Service)
  • Office Depot (Quality)

Through a series of evaluations, one-on-one discussions, formalized feedback instruments, coaching sessions and action plans, the supplier evaluation platform allows David Weekley Homes to analyze national trading partners’ performance as well as their channel partners across all industries and measures excellence. The quarterly survey is a comprehensive review of David Weekley Homes’ supplier performance as assessed by approximately 1,000 team members from all levels within the company and provides trading partners an opportunity to review and improve their channel alignment and performance.

“The business world today is characterized by constant innovation, cost pressures and regulatory guidelines,” said Bill Justus, vice president of supply chain services for David Weekley Homes. “Our supplier feedback platform is essential for helping us identify companies that operate successfully in this type of environment. These are partners with whom we will continue to align ourselves to help fuel our growth and deliver a world-class buying experience for our customers.”

Dow Chemical Company has received the Partners of Choice award each year since the award’s inception in 2004. Kevin McLain, residential solutions specialist for Dow, said this honor is the result of the strong collaborative relationship between the companies.

“It is rewarding to be recognized for the efforts we have put forth in maintaining and strengthening our relationship with David Weekley Homes,” McLain said. “We look upon each other as partners and are very proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish together.”

Another company with a longstanding reputation of excellence is LP Building Products, which received its fifth overall Partners of Choice award and first “A,A” honor.

“This recognition means so much to all of the employees at LP Building Products,” said Tim Johnson, national account manager for LP Building Products. “There are a lot of people that need to be at the top of their game day in and day out in order to receive this honor, and the survey feedback we receive from David Weekley Homes in our quarterly reports is invaluable. It enables us to become not only a better partner with David Weekley Homes, but also a better organization overall.”

Steve Calkins, president of business solutions division for Office Depot, Inc., said product quality is a top priority for this company. “We are honored to be recognized for our efforts by David Weekley Homes with the prestigious ‘Partners of Choice’ award,” Calkins said. “We are committed to exceeding customer expectations by continuing to provide quality products and services at a great value for our customers.”

This is the third consecutive year Blind Ambitions has received the award, and President Eric Andrews says it is considered a huge achievement for the organization.

“Giving feedback to vendors is not something many builders do,” Andrews said. “We appreciate David Weekley Homes for providing a scorecard that keeps us on point and challenges all parts of our company, from product to scheduling and installation.”

After receiving the builder’s “A” Award four times in recent years, Moen is proud to earn the sought-after “A,A” award this year, said Moen Senior Strategic Account Manager Kamlin Nedved.

“Moen is honored to be recognized again for Excellence in Quality and Service by our partner, David Weekley Homes,” Nedved said. “We take every aspect of our performance and partnership very seriously, and it is incredibly rewarding to be recognized.”
