Potomac Shores, a 1,920-acre mixed-use community 30 miles south of Washington, D.C., recently marked the sale of its 500th new home. Potomac Shores is being developed by SunCal.
“We’ve been experiencing a high level of construction activity throughout Potomac Shores, and it’s great to see our community reach the 500-home mark,” said David Soyka, senior vp at SunCal. “Now that the Fairways District adjacent to our 18-hole golf course is nearing build-out, the Woods District in the southern part of the community is the next residential area with new homes springing up.”
Ryan Homes, which launched home sales in 2013 at Potomac Shores, has sold out three neighborhoods in the Fairways District. It currently offers single-family homes in Fairways Crossing and Fairways Overlook and has recently started selling in the Woods District with 72 villas in Woods Gardens, 34 townhomes in Woods Terrace and 94 single-family homes in Woods Village.
NVHomes also began selling in 2013 and has been building single-family homes in The Fairways District. It currently has two single-family neighborhoods open for sale in Fairways Overlook and Fairways Crossing; one other neighborhood has sold out.
Pulte Homes is building 231 luxury townhomes in Fairways Ridge, the final neighborhood in the Fairways District. This area borders the 18-hole Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf Course where many of the homes have scenic views of the lush fairways.
Brookfield Residential is now offering the Woods Edge neighborhood, which are among the first homes to be constructed in the new Woods District. Woods Edge will feature 110 single-family homes and their Phase 2 neighborhood, Woods Bend, is planned for 51 single-family residences.
In addition to new homes, other development activity at Potomac Shores includes the recent opening of a new 19-acre public elementary school that is capable of serving more than 900 students in kindergarten through fifth grade classes. The sports fields at the 30-acre Ali Krieger Sports Complex have been under construction since last fall; the first phase is complete and phase 2 is expected to be finished by early 2018. In the town center, the Potomac Shores team is actively working on the design of the Head House retail building, and is marketing the resort and town center to prospective business operators. A contract for the first commercial piece, a 10-acre parcel in the town center, was recently finalized with a senior care facility operator.
