FourPlans: Generous Mult-Gen Layouts

These layouts give elbow room to in-laws and other live-in relatives.

Sometimes a regular secondary bedroom just won’t cut it. An elderly parent probably could use a bit more room, along with the privacy of an en suite bathroom. Grown children (say, a recent college grad) also will appreciate the extra space of a private suite. These layouts nicely plan for such modern situations.

Living Space in Extra Master Suite

An attached sitting room adds even more space to the main-floor master suite, while another master suite upstairs offers equally roomy accommodations. The central living room features a two-story ceiling and an adjoining screened porch that opens wide for seamless indoor/outdoor living. Other standout amenities include two fireplaces, a large island in the kitchen, and private bathrooms for all five bedrooms. Don’t miss the large laundry room and the three-car, side-loading garage. Private Porch for In-Law Suite

On the main level, the guest suite includes a walk-in closet, two sinks in the the private bathroom, and even an individual porch, making an ideal setup for a live-in relative or long-term visitors. The island kitchen provides easy access to a huge walk-in pantry on one side, a screen porch on the other, and the fireplace-warmed great room straight ahead. Lockers and a “drop zone” add extra organization to the mudroom. Upstairs, four secondary bedrooms each boast a walk-in closet. The master suite includes a large shower, a corner tub, dual sinks, and easy access to the laundry room. See more images, information, and the floor plan.

A Master Suite on Each Level

This striking modern design presents families with two master suites, one on each level, and a third suite for family or friends. The open layout encourages relaxed gathering in the great room and at the ultra-spacious kitchen island. Two sets of French doors let owners step out to the front and back porches from their luxurious first-level suite. Alternatively, elderly relatives can stay down here for easy access. Elevated Outdoor Living

This luxurious, light-filled layout makes outdoor living and entertaining the top priorities. A covered lanai opens to nearly all the main-floor rooms, including the ultra-spacious master suite (don’t miss the innovative bathroom layout, which gives each partner a private sink and toilet while meeting in the middle for the oversize shower). Upstairs, two of the three bedroom suites step out to a large covered porch. With an elevator making it easy to get up here, guests and family members (especially elderly ones) can access the whole home. See more images, information, and the floor plan.
