Bosch’s newest cordless angle grinder, the GWS18V-45C 18V EC Brushless 4-1/2 in. Angle Grinder, is made with convenience and safety in mind. The tool’s electronics allow for the incorporation of advanced safety features, including drop control, which automatically shuts off the tool if it is dropped, and KickBack Control, which shuts down the motor if the tool is jammed.

Soft-start technology reduces start-up torque, making cuts easier to start, and restart protection presents accidental starts during battery insertion. With the optional Bosch GCY30-4 Bluetooth connectivity module, users may also use the Bosch Toolbox app to change the speed of the soft-start, set the brightness of its LEDs, and receive battery and KickBack Control status updates.

The EC brushless motor provides greater runtime and more power than similar grinders, according to the manufacturers. It delivers 10,000 no-load rpm while retaining its maneuverability, even during use on metal. It features a two-position Vibration Control side handle, which provides greater control and makes tool operation less strenuous.

The grinder measures 14.5 inches and weighs 5.7 pounds. It retails for $179 in the US and $229 in Canada. www.boschtools.com
