Following a beta program that started in early 2017, Los Angeles, Calif.-based Flo Technologies has announced the launch of its Flo water security and management system, along with a limited early adopter program.
The Flo system consists of a Wi-Fi connected monitordevice installed on the home’s main water supply line, as well as a smartphone app that allows the home owner to control the device’s conservation and security settings. In lieu of a reactive system, Flo preemptively monitors the water supply line for leaks or abnormalities, and is able to automatically shut off the home’s water supply if it detects a catastrophic event, such as a pipe burst. It is able to detect leaks as small as a single drop of water per minute, visible and invisible alike, and is able to warn home owners if their pipes are about to freeze.
The system continuously monitors the water flow, temperature, and pressure in real-time, reports that information back to the home owner through the, and intelligently learns the home’s typical water usage pattern over time, further augmenting its ability to detect abnormalities.
“With the ability to dramatically reduce the risk of water damage and help conserve water use, reaction to Flo has been overwhelmingly positive from consumers coast to coast, plumbing professionals and the insurance industry alike,” says Gabriel Halimi, CEO and Co-founder of Flo Technologies. “With 13 percent of a home’s water being lost each year in leaks, the Flo system can pay for itself over time.”
Flo is launching an early adopter program today, with space for up to 1,000 participants. Participants’ experiences will help Flo Technologies refine the product’s capabilities. A wider launch is slated for Q1 2018. www.meetflo.com
