Partnering with the National Multifamily Housing Council, KTGY Architecture + Planning principal Rohit Anand led and conducted in-depth research about consumer behavior and the evolution of multifamily living to envision what an apartment community will look like in the future. The project was designed to help developers and designers learn how to engage with consumers in a way that gives them new, innovative experiences, and then designing homes around those ideas. The team looked at successful models of office, retail, and hospitality spaces, along with innovative and disruptive businesses in other industries, like Uber, to see how those businesses were creating new ways for consumers to connect. The project designed conceptual living spaces around the primal experiences humans have that will never change—eat, sleep, work, and play. Each space included futuristic technologies such as a holographic personal trainer in the fitness center. The team also designed a conceptual unit and amenity space for each one of these four elements as a fully immersive experience with virtual reality goggles. vr.nmhc.org/
