Apartment Therapy’s Brittany Anas asked real estate agents from across the country to share what they consider the most “overdone” bathroom trends they’ve seen in their work, including features that “sacrifice function” or “are about to tip from popular to dated.”

According to real estate agent Natalia Tkacz, jetted tubs, a hallmark of the early 2000s, are prone to mechanical failures and maintenance issues. Bold motifs on bathroom tiles tend to be highly personalized or trendy, while subway tiles are best replaced with neutral palettes, says real estate agent Jennifer Okhovat. Double sinks are considered impractical, while floating sinks eliminate cabinet space and create a commercial feel. Dark marble is extremely porous, but all-white schemes can feel “sterile.”

The list also includes large frameless mirrors, magazine covers, and toilet seat covers and shaped bathroom rugs.
