By BUILDER Magazine Staff The El Paso Association of Builders, through the Home Builders’ Care program, built Guadalupe Hingeley and her family a new home.
Nearly 100 companies donated time, money, labor, and materials under the auspices of the El Paso Association of Builders.
Hingeley and her four children lived in small-substandard housing conditions on the outskirts of El Paso, Texas. She was injured in a car accident by a drunk driver and was then unable to work. Concerned for the family and the children, the children’s school counselor at Red Sands Elementary contacted the Association of Builders in hopes that they could help this family in desperate need.
Danny Salazar, executive vice president of the Association of Builders, put together a dedicated team to oversee this project. Lorraine Huit of Cardel Homes and Deb Strother of Lawyers Title chaired the Home Builders Care project and Anna and Burgo Gill of Annaco Building agreed to supervise the construction and completion of the new home.
