Taylor Morrison, the Scottsdale, Ariz.-based U.S. unit of the U.K.’s Taylor Wimpey, said Monday it hired Tim Stapleton, a former Centex division president, as the company’s new division president for its North Florida division, which includes Jacksonville and Orlando.

In his new post, Stapleton will be responsible for all operations in Jacksonville and Orlando. The company currently has four selling communities in greater Jacksonville with homes starting from the $90,000s and seven around Orlando with homes starting from the $140,000s.

Stapleton succeeds Lou Steffens, president of the eastern region for Taylor Morrison, who was handling the North Florida Division as well. Steffens remains in his eastern regional post.

Stapleton spent the majority of his career with Centex Homes, where he most recently was the division president for the Chicago market. He also served as Centex’s Detroit division president, which grew to more than 1,000 closings and revenues of $195 million under his managment. Centex was merged into Pulte Homes Inc. (NYSE:PUL) this summer.

Stapleton holds an MBA from Rosary College and a bachelor’s in accounting from Carthage College.
