Melbourne, Fla.–based Mercedes Homes has unveiled two new hurricane-resistant home prototypes that include features the builder believes will help the industry and home buyers. Located in Rockledge, Fla., the homes include features to resist strong winds, such as stronger structural design and cast-in-place concrete walls. They also have out-swing entry doors, removable hurricane shutters, and reconfigured soffit vent openings to reduce water intrusion.
