It’s my hope that everyone is gearing up for the upcoming International Builders’ Show (IBS). This premier event for residential construction professionals will be held Jan. 9-11, 2018, in Orlando, Fla.

For the fifth consecutive year, IBS will be co-located with the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS) as part of Design and Construction Week (DCW). This means that all IBS attendees will enjoy free exhibit-floor access to KBIS. So after you take a look at the great products on the IBS exhibit floor, I encourage you to spend time at the KBIS exhibition.

Educational programming is an important element of IBS, and this show’s sessions are designed to deliver great ideas for a wide range of housing industry professionals. Attendees purchasing full registration can choose from more than 140 sessions, including recently added programs on resiliency.

Some popular educational programs include the Master Sessions, Builder Clinics, and Spotlight Sessions, which feature live demonstrations, high-profile speakers, and the latest building techniques. Plus, the interactive Tech Bytes sessions let show attendees test out the latest tech products to use in their businesses.

IBS also has many engaging learning formats such as demonstrations, case studies, town halls, debates, and lightning rounds. Enjoy the CEDIA Home Technology Solutions Pavilion, and plan to stop by the NAHB Centrals to network and learn the latest in remodeling, custom building, 55-plus housing, sales, design, and multifamily construction. These opportunities are open to everyone registered for IBS.

There are exclusive programs for NAHB members at IBS as well. Our second annual Meeting of the Members offers a first-hand perspective on how NAHB develops its priorities and creates action plans on everything from political advocacy to educational programming for industry professionals. This meeting is also a great opportunity to learn about the association’s membership benefits and to network with like-minded building professionals.

“Shark Tank” personality Daymond John will join the Meeting of the Members to offer his ideas on entrepreneurship and the keys to overcoming adversity.

NAHB will also have two show homes on display with The New American Home, located in the Bella Collina golf community, and The New American Remodel in Winter Park. The New American Home is a Tuscan-style house that incorporates traditional and modern architecture and focuses on outdoor living. Meanwhile, The New American Remodel is a 1930s home that has been transformed using the latest products and building techniques.

These are only a sampling of the highlights of the 2018 International Builders’ Show. You can learn more about the many special events at buildersshow.com/app or buildersshow.com/events.

NAHB is working hard to create an excellent show that delivers a dynamic and enriching experience for home builders, remodelers, and their business colleagues. I hope to see all of you in Orlando in January, ready to take advantage of the great opportunities that the show offers. I am certain you will walk away with a lot of great ideas to help your business thrive in 2018.
