Apps Put Most-Used Building Codes and Calculations at Pros’ Fingertips

1 MIN READ

A new set of mobile applications promise to expand the usefulness and functionality of Apple’s iPhone and iPod Touch for construction pros and designers. The Formulator Series of apps, released recently by software development company MultiEducator, were designed, programmed, and packaged specifically for building design and construction professionals: architects, builders, engineers, carpenters, plumbers, HVAC contractors, and electrical contractors.

The series offers basic and professional app packages targeted to specific trades and disciplines and containing hundreds of formulas, graphics calculations, federal and state regulatory codes, and building code requirements. Basic packages offer the most commonly used formulas and graphic calculations needed by professionals in each trade, and professional packages offer app bundles that include full sets of regulations, codes, and formulas.

For example, the Builder’s Formulator package provides 200-plus formulas to perform a variety of basic conversions and calculations, such as figuring header loads and materials costs, and it includes all the functions of the Carpentry, Electrical, and Plumbing Formulator apps. The Builders’ Formulator Pro package features all the basic package’s functions plus the complete HVAC Pro and Electrical Pro packages, the first six chapters of the International Building Code, codes and drawings for the Americans with Disabilities Act, and the complete International Mechanical Code.

Basic apps range in price from $4.99 to $6.99, and professional packages range from $9.99 to $19.99. All Formulator Series apps are available through the iTunes App Store.
