The theme for this year’s ASLA meeting and expo will examine ways to expand what landscape architects normally do in their practices and present new ways to approach the integration of architecture and landscape. Improving walkability and water conservation both continue to be high priorities for conference organizers.

Educational classes and workshops will cover topics such as sustainable arid regional design, urban farming in the desert, mitigating urban heat island effects, accessible site design, sustainable pavement systems, retrofitting communities for increased pedestrian and bicycle mobility, landscapes as stormwater management, designing green roofs, and more.In addition to the sessions, the show floor will feature product and technology companies as well as landscape design-related organizations from around the world. The ASLA annual conference takes place Sept. 29-30 at the Phoenix Convention Center.
