After several years without company-wide systems or procedures for project management and information flow, Keith Groninger realized that his company was keeping information in seven different places. His new tech-savvy superintendent turned him on to Microsoft Office Enterprise Project Management and the world of handhelds, like the Palm Pilot. Utilizing Microsoft Project, Groninger managed to pare down information storage to two locations: Notes and To Do List. The To Do List application is essentially Groninger’s construction schedule, where he can store more than 600 lines of information.
To link the office application to staff using handhelds, the firm uses Natara Software’s Project@Hand2 MSP solution, synchronized with Project. Desktop project files are identified to Project@Hand, and the updates made to the desktop files and hand-held files are reconciled.
