New Report Focused on Custom Builders

A new quarterly report from the CB/USA shows the market turning around for high-end custom builders and remodelers.

Custom Builders USA (CB/USA), a building products buying cooperative, recently started producing a quarterly report based on information gathered from its network of more than 200 custom and independent builders/remodelers located across the country. According to the first edition, the group posted “impressive results” during the second quarter of 2011. The report covers purchasing volume and spending by CB/USA members, comparing those numbers with past data.

Overall, the CB/USA says its members annually represent approximately 2,350 starts and $1 billion in home sales. The first report shows an increase of 23 percent in total purchase volume for the second quarter of 2011 when compared with 2010s second quarter. Compared with all past data from the group, this years second quarter represents the members highest spending since the last quarter of 2008. And the average per-builder spending figure for this quarter also saw a year-over-year increase of 20 percent. “Despite the challenges that our industry is facing, we are finding that builders and remodelers who run their businesses well, maintain solid reputations, and pay their bills on time are consistently outperforming both the market and their local competition,” says CB/USA CEO Bill Smithers.
