Welcome to the second edition of THE WIRED HOUSE, a cooperative endeavor between the Custom Electronic Design & Installation Association (CEDIA) and CUSTOM HOME. We hope this supplement will increase awareness for our strategic partners—custom home builders and residential architects—of the mission of CEDIA’s membership, its services, and the tremendous potential that exists for the mutual growth of our partnerships.
There is no question that builders and architects have been experiencing increasing demand for the many different facets of residential low-voltage technology in the marketplace today, from home theater and “music in every room” to security and home networking technologies. CEDIA represents a community of professional electronic systems design and installation contractors and manufacturers; its members are the most powerful and appropriate vehicle for the delivery of these products and services to today’s discerning homeowners.
Since its inception, CEDIA has been developing and providing education to its members. We believe that the continuing education of each company’s staff is critical to the ongoing success of the industry. Our educational programs provide continuous education and certification opportunities for our members at every level. The proliferation of best business practices through training in all of our industry’s disciplines will play a significant role in the success and perpetuation of our relationship with the building and architectural communities. Because of this mission, our strategic partners will benefit through excellence both in service and delivery of technology; the expectations of our mutual clients will be met or exceeded; and harmony between builders, architects, interior designers, and the CEDIA community will be fostered.
In addition to providing education for its members, CEDIA’s education team has developed and continues to produce tracks and courses for Continuing Education Units (CEUs) to be provided to the architectural and interior design communities. Our accredited courses are available throughout the United States and are facilitated by trained CEDIA presenters. Our courses have been presented at the annual NAHB International Builders’ Show, the American Institute of Architects convention, and different American Society of Interior Designers events across the country. At the local and regional level, our CEU programs are available to be presented in major cities upon request.
