Summit Homes, a Berkshire Hathaway subsidiary through Clayton Properties Group, presented St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital representatives a check for $718,000 following the sale of the builder’s 2017 St. Jude Dream Home Showplace.
Summit Homes, the largest new home builder in Kansas City, built the 2017 St. Jude Dream Home Showplace as an extension of the St. Jude Dream Home Giveaway Program, to support children battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases. The builder pledged 100% of proceeds from the sale of the home to as a donation for the research hospital.
The Summit team gathered with representatives from St. Jude and local sponsors at the site of the 2017 Dream Home Showplace in Lee’s Summit to present the donation.
“Our team is thrilled to make this donation following the close of our sixth St. Jude Dream Home campaign here in Kansas City,” said Zalman Kohen, COO for Summit Homes. “We’re proud to support St. Jude’s lifesaving treatment and research efforts.”
Summit Homes is a “Zero Hero” builder for St. Jude. The builder partners with national and local sponsors, as well as their network of local trade partners to ensure all materials and labor are donated so that the home is built at zero cost.
“We have an incredible group of trade partners who came together with our Summit team to build this home at zero cost. Without their support and the support of our local and national sponsors, this project would not be possible. It’s truly a labor of love for all involved,” said Kohen.
St. Jude leads the way the world understands, treats and defeats childhood cancer and other life-threatening diseases. Families never receive a bill from St. Jude for treatment, travel, housing or food — because all a family should worry about is helping their child live.
