Video as marketing tool

1 MIN READ

Video is becoming a more common promotional tool for architects, and I think it can do a very good job of getting across a firm’s personality. Here are a few examples of ones I’ve seen recently:BUILD LLC, a Seattle design/build firm, just released an impressionistic, documentary-style video that’s very nicely done. Parts of it are filmed in the Steven Holl-designed Chapel of St. Ignatius, which I was lucky enough to get to see a couple of years ago.

The editor of residential architect, Claire Conroy, passed along a link to a series of videos by Barry Berkus, AIA, of B3 Architects, called How To Think Like An Architect. Very different from BUILD LLC’s but also well done–each short video takes on a topic (such as “Designing From Organic Form”) and examines it in-depth.

SPACE Architecture + Design in St. Louis, Mo., has an 8-minute video posted on its website, featuring interviews with clients, architects at the firm, and a general contractor for good measure. The video introduces individuals within the firm’s ranks, helping the viewer to gain a better understanding of the company.
