WCI Loses Interim CFO

1 MIN READ

WCI Communities vice president, treasurer, and interim CFO Ernest J. Scheidemann has resigned, the company announced. WCI said it will search for a replacement.

Scheidemann took over the CFO position on an interim basis at the Bonita Springs, Fla.-based company at the end of December, replacing James P. Dietz, who left to work in the vacation resort industry. Scheidemann already held and kept the titles of vice president and treasurer and had worked for WCI since 2004.

Executive departures and combinations of responsibilities became common as the company slipped deeper into financial trouble. CEO Jerry Starkey resigned recently when the company filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. He was replaced on an interim basis by David L. Fry, a WCI veteran since 1995. Fry was named COO last November and remains in that position as well.

In September, Christopher J. Hanlon announced his resignation effective at the end of the year. Hanlon was a senior vice president and chief operating officer of the company’s ill-fated tower building division.
