In the latest installment of Zonda’s Inspirational Leadership With the Best in Home Building podcast series, principal Mollie Carmichael catches up with Larry Webb, former executive chairman of The New Home Co., which was acquired by funds managed by Apollo Global Management in September.

The industry leader, who says he never had a real day off not thinking about work from his first day as a teacher until this past September after the acquisition, discusses his next chapter, reflects on his career, and reveals leadership lessons learned over his 30 years in home building.

“Our business is all about people. It’s not about sticks and bricks. It’s not about dirt. If you have great people and you create an environment that they can do the best work of their life and you make investments in those people, in all different ways from leadership programs to books to real conversations about ideas, then there’s almost nothing you can’t achieve,” he tells Carmichael.

Each episode of the Inspirational Leadership With the Best in Home Building podcast series showcases an insightful personal conversation with a key thought leader in the housing industry. The inaugural episode featured Adrian Foley, president and CEO of Brookfield Properties and Development Group, North America, and is available now.
