The Chicago division of M/I Homes has completed and sold its 2025 “Benefit Home” in Plainfield, Illinois. The sale produced a $215,000 donation as a part of M/I’s annual philanthropic program benefiting Pelotonia, an organization supporting innovative cancer research.

The Chicago M/I Homes division raised an additional $85,000 for Pelotonia through its 2025 golf outing fundraiser, which brought the total 2025 donations to $300,000.

“As we approach the season of giving around the upcoming holidays, we are incredibly honored to have been able to use our work and industry relationships to support Pelotonia and its vital mission of fighting a disease that impacts so many of us directly or indirectly,” says Rick Champine, area president of M/I Homes, which is No. 13 on the 2025 Builder 100 list. “Even more gratifying is that both the Benefit Home program and our golf outing fundraiser showcase the incredible generosity of our industry partners, whose support and participation is integral to the success of these initiatives.”

For four years in row, M/I Homes of Chicago has participated in the Benefit Home program. M/I Homes works across its 17 divisions partnering with contractors, vendors, and suppliers to build a home at one of their local communities at a reduced cost. The homes are then sold at market value with profits going to Pelotonia.

M/I Homes of Chicago has raised more than $470,000 for Pelotonia through the Benefit Home program over the last three years. The donation from the 2025 home brought that local total to $685,000. Nationally, M/I Homes has raised more than $11 million for Pelotonia across its market divisions and fundraising efforts, including the Benefit Home program.

Construction of the 2025 Chicago Benefit Home kicked off in April. The home is located in M/I Homes’ Riverstone development in southwest suburban Plainfield and features M/I’s popular two-story Barclay floor plan, with an open concept kitchen and family room; four bedrooms; a full basement; and attached two-car garage.

“We were confident we would lock in a buyer quickly knowing the strong appeal of Riverstone’s scenic riverfront setting and Plainfield’s terrific lifestyle, not to mention the high level of features and finishes in the Benefit Home thanks to discounts and donations from our trade partners,” adds Champine. The home sold at market value in the spring to a buyer who wishes to remain anonymous.

In late October, a dedication ceremony was held after the completion of the Benefit Home. Following the financial closing, the donation was made to Pelotonia. Since 2019, M/I Homes of Chicago’s lifetime donation total to Pelotonia is $1.1 million, including 2025 contributions from the Benefit Home and golf outing.
