One of the casualties of the housing crash was the decorated model home, as it was an easy line item for most builders to eliminate from their budget. Yet, as the housing market continues to rebound, many builders are now contemplating what role model homes will play in their marketing plans going forward.

While the days are gone when a builder would feature several decorated models at each new-construction community, does that mean model homes are a thing of the past? Yes… and no… according to three Chicago-area home builders. Here, each weighs in on why – or why not – to invest in a decorated model home at a new-construction community.
